The low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding is often caused by various factors, one of which is breast milk expenditure. This study aims to study factors related to breast milk expenditure in postpartum mothers in the Working Area of the Sawah Lebar Health Center, Bengkulu City. This type of research is quantitative using an analytical survey method with a cross sectional approach. The population of this study was 31 respondents on the 3rd-42nd day of the Sawah Lebar Health Center in the working area of the Sawah Lebar Health Center, Bengkulu City. The sampling technique is by means of total sampling. Data analysis in the study used a chi-square statistical test with a degree of significance α = 0.05.
The results of this study were achieved. Of the 31 respondents, 14 of them experienced unsmooth breast milk expenditure, while 17 other respondents had smooth breast milk expenditure. In addition, respondents' knowledge of breastfeeding varied, with 9 respondents having less knowledge, 11 respondents having sufficient knowledge, and 11 respondents having good knowledge. In terms of breast care, 18 respondents did not do the treatment, while 13 respondents did. Other findings showed that 25 respondents did not experience sunken nipples, while 6 respondents experienced the condition. This study also found a relationship between knowledge and breast milk production, breast care and breast milk production, and sunken nipples and milk production.
