Preeclampsia is a health problem that requires special attention because
preeclampsia is a high cause of maternal and perinatal mortality. This study aims
to study the relationship between a history of hypertension and parity with the
incidence of preeclampsia in pregnant women in the obstetrics ward of Rupit
Musi Rawas Utara Hospital in 2020.
This type of research is quantitative with a case control design. The
population in the study were all pregnant women who were treated at the Rupit
Musi Rawas Utara Hospital in 2020 as many as 502 people. Case samples were all
pregnant women with preeclampsia who were taken using a total sampling
technique of 78 people. The control sample was pregnant women who did not
have preeclampsia and were taken by systematic sampling with 5 intervals. This
study used secondary data by tracing documentation. Data analysis was carried
out by univariate, bivariate with Chi-Square Test.
The results of the study found: (1) There was a relationship between a
history of hypertension and the incidence of preeclampsia in pregnant women in
the obstetrics ward of Rupit Musi Rawas Utara Hospital, with a moderate
category and an OR of 5,333, meaning that pregnant women with a history of
hypertension were 5,333 times more at risk of experiencing hypertension; (2)
There is a relationship between parity and the incidence of preeclampsia in
pregnant women in the obstetrics ward of Rupit Musi Rawas Utara Hospital, with
a moderate category and an OR of 4.018, meaning that pregnant women with
primipara parity or grandemultipara are 4.018 times more at risk of developing
hypertension. It is hoped that health workers, especially midwives, can provide
advocacy to pregnant women by providing health information to mothers about
danger signs during pregnancy
